A National Demonstration TCM Hospital in Beijing

Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, was founded in 1958. It is the First Clinical Medical College of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, a university included in China’s “211 Project,” “985 Project Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform,” and national “Double First-Class” construction initiative.

The hospital is one of China’s first large comprehensive Grade III Class A traditional Chinese medicine hospitals and national demonstration TCM hospitals. It is also among the first national TCM clinical research bases and national drug clinical trial institutions, as well as a World Health Organization training base for appropriate TCM techniques.

Multiple Campuses and International TCM Exchange

The hospital has built a strategic layout of “two campuses and one international department.” The Dongcheng Campus is located at No. 5 Haiyuncang, Dongcheng District, Beijing; the Tongzhou Campus is located at No. 116 Cuiping West Road, Tongzhou District; and the International Department is located at No. 279 Dongsi North Street, Dongcheng District.

Since its founding, the hospital has been well known for its long history, respected experts, strong TCM techniques, and high-quality services. In 1991, the hospital established a TCM branch in Europe, Kötzting Hospital in Germany, becoming an important window for international exchange in traditional Chinese medicine.

Five Major Clinical Centers Led by TCM Integration

The hospital is led by five major clinical centers: the Brain Disease Center, Cardiovascular Center, Nephrology and Endocrinology Center, Orthopedics and Traumatology Center, and Respiratory Center. As the First Clinical Medical College of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Dongzhimen Hospital has strong teaching capabilities.
