United Family Healthcare was founded in Beijing in 1997 by Roberta Lipson. It is widely recognized as one of China’s earliest foreign-invested private hospital brands and a well-known name in the mid-to-high-end private healthcare market.

Since introducing the da Vinci robotic surgery system in 2015, Beijing United Family Hospital has carried out robotic surgeries across multiple specialties, including urology, gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery, thyroid surgery, head and neck surgery, hernia and abdominal wall surgery, thoracic surgery, pediatric surgery, and gynecology.

The hospital has completed more than 900 robotic surgeries. In August 2024, Beijing United Family Hospital was officially recognized as a da Vinci robotic surgery demonstration center among non-public medical institutions in China. In September 2024, its second da Vinci robotic surgery system was introduced at the Dongcheng campus, making United Family Healthcare the first non-public medical institution in Beijing with a dual da Vinci robotic surgery system.

United Family Healthcare has more than 600 full-time doctors from 25 countries and regions, a part-time expert team of more than 1,000 professionals, and a nursing team of over 900 members. Beijing United Family Hospital has approximately 300 full-time doctors, around 20% of whom are international physicians.

The service language environment is designed for international patients and families in China. Services are available in English, Arabic, French, and more than ten other foreign languages and Chinese dialects. The hospitals have repeatedly passed College of American Pathologists certification and HIMSS EMRAM Level 6 certification for inpatient medical information systems.

United Family Healthcare has also maintained Joint Commission International accreditation and has passed JCI accreditation six times with high scores. In July 2025, its independently developed “Muyi AI” clinical assistance system was put into use, positioned as an AI assistant for doctors, helping reduce repetitive workload and support clinical efficiency.

In April 2025, the Beijing United Family International Hospital project was announced in Chaoyang District, Beijing. The planned project includes 600 beds and a total investment of 6 billion RMB, with expected operation in 2029. It is planned as a research-oriented hospital integrating medical care, teaching, and research, as well as an international medical education base.

United Family Healthcare also pays close attention to corporate social responsibility. The United Family Children’s Healthcare Foundation has provided charitable medical care for children in need, including orphans, children with chronic diseases, and earthquake survivors.
