Hospital History & Development
The hospital originated from Bethel Hospital founded in 1920. It was renamed Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital in 1952 and later became affiliated with Shanghai Second Medical University. After the 2005 merger into Shanghai Jiao Tong University, it adopted its current official name.
In 2014, it integrated with the Third People’s Hospital, forming a unified north-south campus structure and becoming one of China’s most influential comprehensive medical centers.
